“I am a Canadian, free to speak without fear, free to worship in my own way, free to stand for what I think right, free to oppose what I believe wrong, or free to choose those who shall govern my country. This heritage of freedom I pledge to uphold for myself and all mankind.” ~~ John G. Diefenbaker

FORSETH: That, to me, sure seems to fit with narcissistic personality disorder – AND - a definite sense of self entitlement

I think most people are aware of why England’s Henry the 8th created the Church of England. It was out of a belief that he should be able to do anything he wanted. And what did he want?  It was a male heir that would follow him and, at his death, become the next King of England.

His marriage to Catherine had not produced one, so he demanded the Pope to allow him to divorce her.  The Pope of course refused so Henry created his own church, and declared himself the "Supreme Head of the Church of England", thereby allowing him to annul the marriage.

In other words, he wanted his own way, and because he had the ultimate power in England, he forced his will over the church.

Many (most?) would say people suffer like that from 'narcissistic personality disorder'.

The Mayo Clinic says, “People with this disorder may lack the ability to understand or care about the feelings of others. But behind this mask of extreme confidence, they are not sure of their self-worth and are easily upset by the slightest criticism.”

I’d add to that, ‘a sense of self-entitlement’.

I’ve also heard people say that those suffering from ‘self-entitlement’, or those who inflict their will on others, believe that (to put it crudely) their shit doesn’t stink. They believe they can, and should, be able to do whatever they want – and the same for those who that seek favourtism from them.

That sense of self-entitlement doesn’t really fit well with having ethics, which brings me around to one of the Executive Orders US President Donald Trump signed on Day One of his presidency.

Trump has canceled Biden’s ethics rules. Critics call it the opposite of ‘drain the swamp’  (Associated Press January 22nd)

Donald Trump took office eight years ago, pledging to “drain the swamp” and end the domination of Washington influence peddlers.

Now, he’s opening his second term by rolling back prohibitions on executive branch employees accepting major gifts from lobbyists, and ditching bans on lobbyists seeking executive branch jobs or vice versa, for at least two years …

Lisa Gilbert, co-president of the government watchdog group Public Citizen, said in a statement. “Instead of focusing on the needs of the American people, Trump’s only interest is to secure a next deal to line his pockets.”

A man charged and convicted of multiple crimes -- including rape and paying hush money, as well as inciting a riot to overturn the 2020 U.S. election (which he lost fair and square) -- is now the leader of the ‘free world’.

Is that a major ethical dilemma, or what?

It's no surprise then that Trump had a tantrum when, during the Inaugural Prayer Service the other day, he was asked by Right Rev. Mariann Budde (Episcopal Bishop of Washington), to have compassion and mercy on the less fortunate, and those who have often suffered from discrimination and abuse.

Following the service Trump was quoted saying, “I didn’t think it was a good service. They could do much better.”

Apparently, he was more animated and angry on his Truth Social site, where he called the Bishop a “radical left hard line Trump hater,” and demanded an apology. (City News – January 22nd)

That, to me, sure seems, to me, to fit with narcissistic personality disorder – AND – a having sense of self entitlement. And because of that, I fear what his next pronouncements will be, and what kind of reactions may result from them.

For the next four years, the people of the United States of America are in for a roller coaster ride of what will likely be questionable pronouncements and decisions coming from the mind of Trump.

How badly the weakest in American society (and American citizens in general) will suffer because of it, is already unfolding – and I have to say it doesn’t look good.

Agree?  Disagree?  The floors now yours.

  1. The Trumo Coin just created billions of welath out of thin air for Trump. He also has a lot more of it that people can buy to transfer welath to him to his favour. Maybe Canada needs to buy a lot of the coin to bribe him?

  2. One of the greatest POTUS of all time. Each and every Indian American friend if mine voted for him. Everyone , all of them have many black and Hispanic friends, most of them voted for him.

  3. let me begin by saying we have terrible governments both provincially and federally.
That said, even at their worst, they wouldn't hold a candle to Donald Trump.
Trump created a cult following of blind sheep that are starved for his inane utterings that aren't based on even a scrap of reality.

I know many will STRONGLY disagree with me, however as far as I'm concerned, he is a bombastic, egotistical, morally bankrupt individual.

  4. Yes I'm sure almost 100 million Americans of all ages, race, sex who voted for him are all blind sheep that are starved for his inane utterings. It's extremely insulting and demeaning to put 10's of millions of hard working Americans in sheep category.
I hate the word privilege that the woke usually use. But I think Canadians who hate Trump should travel a little to other parts of the world. He is loved like you wouldn't believe in India, South America, Korea, Japan, Israel and many other parts of the world.
Actions speak louder than words. His 16-20 term was one of the best for US in a long long time.

He is less egotistical, bombastic morally bankrupt, and corrupt than Trudeau on any given day. And I don't see the same hate for Trudeau.

Can you imagine trump with black face being forgotten by mainstream media? I don't think so. It's all the mainstream media which is hugely biased and is mostly left leaning who love to destroy any impactful popular right leaders.

  5. We as citizens can either have an impactful leader or an honest leader which is extremely rare. To expect both, a good human being and a great leader is impossible. At the end of the day, if I have to choose between an honest but useless leader who will destroy the economy, country or a corrupt, sexist, racist (not saying trump is any of those) who will make sure my country is #1. I will choose the latter

Every politician is corrupt at the high level. They are so compromised, that all have skeletons. I don't care anymore what they do in their personal lives. I just don't.

FORSETH -- If having three un-happy MLA’s leave the party, is what it takes to have unity within caucus, then I say, “Fine; let it be so”

Regrettably, in recent days, issues within the Conservative Party of BC have come to the surface resulting in one member being removed from Caucus (Dallas Brodie) and the party, and two others (Tara Armstrong and Jordan Kealy) leaving of their own accord. As of this morning (Saturday March 8th) all three are now sitting as independents in the BC legislature. So, what does that mean? In the last twenty-four hours social media feeds have lit up with support for leader John Rustad, while others have been negative, accusing the party, and Rustad, of being bullies and not standing up for conservative values. Ryan Painter, who has personally worked with John Rustad, had this to say: Since the beginning, he's had one target: the BC NDP. He knows that British Columbians deserve a government that works for them, delivers on their promises, and doesn't tax them into poverty. He believes in his team and the power of a focused opposition. He knows who the enemy is. He knows BC deserves ...

WARD STAMER: “Hopefully he’s actually listening to what people have to say, and not just showing up for a photo op”

In his latest travels across the province, BC Forest Minister Ravi Parmar touched down in the Okanagan. A trip essentially, he said, to be on the ground meeting industry people. I read what he had to say, and about how he has been tasked with getting more timber to market. Let me start by saying, “ He hasn’t been tasked. He and Premier Eby guaranteed 45 million cubic metres of available wood fibre – they guaranteed that .” BC Timber Sales is a government agency within the provincial forest’s ministry, which is responsible for managing a portion of the province's Crown timber; specifically, 20 percent of the province's annual allowable cut. Unfortunately, BC Timber Sales did not provide anywhere near that amount last year, it was just 12.2 percent. Three years ago, BC mills cut 52 million metres of wood, bringing in nearly $2 billion dollars to the provincial treasury. That figure doesn’t include the taxes from 55,700 people directly employed in the industry, nor from the tens o...

Conservative Opposition demonstrates focused and policy-oriented approach in first four weeks of the legislative session

In the first four weeks of the legislative session, the Conservative Official Opposition has scored significant policy wins as it proves every day that the Conservative team has fresh ideas and real-world experience to bring to the table. At the same time, the NDP government has been listless, struggling to find a policy agenda that addresses the problems that British Columbians are facing. “This NDP government led by David Eby has tried to do everything under the sun to distract from their disastrous fiscal record and the fact that they are utterly out of ideas,” said Conservative Opposition Leader John Rustad. “They’ve tried to use the U.S. President to deflect from their eye-popping $11 billion deficit, the worst business confidence in the country, and the fact that they’ve created almost zero private sector jobs. This is no way to run a province or an economy.” Since the legislative session started on February 18th with the Throne Speech, the opposition...
