“I am a Canadian, free to speak without fear, free to worship in my own way, free to stand for what I think right, free to oppose what I believe wrong, or free to choose those who shall govern my country. This heritage of freedom I pledge to uphold for myself and all mankind.” ~~ John G. Diefenbaker

CATHY McLEOD: Prime Minister Justin Trudeau Must Resign Amid SNC-Lavalin Affair

Kamloops - Thompson - Cariboo MP Cathy McLeod Ottawa – Cathy McLeod, Member of Parliament for Kamloops - Thompson - Cariboo, today reiterated Conservative Leader Andrew Scheer’s demand that Justin Trudeau resign amid the SNC-Lavalin affair. “ Canadians were shocked to hear the explosive testimony of former Attorney General Jody Wilson-Raybould on the SNC-Lavalin affair ,” said McLeod.  “ It’s clear there was inappropriate – and potentially illegal – pressure brought on her by the highest officials in Justin Trudeau’s government, all in a bid to let a Liberal-connected corporation off the hook on corruption charges .” Media began reporting in early February that the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) pressured Justice Minister and Attorney General, Jody Wilson-Raybould, to intervene in the criminal prosecution of Montreal engineering and construction giant SNC-Lavalin Group Inc.   At the Justice Committee, Ms. Wilson-Raybould said, “… I experienced a consiste

“My daddy told me so” says little Thomas, "and he wouldn't tell me a lie. Would you, Daddy?"

Here’s a few interesting quotes and facts to consider today ... first from British Columbia: George Heyman, BC Minister of Environment and Climate Change Strategy on February 22 nd stated on Twitter : I share British Columbians deep concerns about the risk that an oil spill poses to Indigenous communities and BC's environment, economy and our coast... This project is not in the best interests of the tens of thousands of people who depend on our coast for their livelihoods. We're going to continue to assert our right to defend BC's env't in court & will continue to insist the federal gov't take BC's concerns seriously. NOTE:   Heyman also stated that:   Not only have they re-approved the project, they've imposed no new conditions . This is actually NOT TRUE. The NEB is recommending the project be approved subject to 16 new conditions, in addition to the 156 conditions it had proposed in its previous recommendation. BC NDP

ADAM OLSEN: Raising my hands in gratitude

Just a quick note before you read this post from Adam Olsen, which I feel is very timely.   There is a lot we can and should be grateful for, in whatever manner we choose to use in showing it.   The other day I was thinking of all the scandals that we’ve been hearing recently in both federal and provincial politics ... issues south of the border ... and hot spots around the world.   With all of that happening sometimes it’s hard to see things to be grateful for, however they are all around us.   Thank you, Adam, for writing this post; a reminder of all there is to be grateful for ... Alan I am thankful for this opportunity to capture and blog a few thoughts everyday. And, I am thankful for the people who read it, share it, and offer their feedback. Thankfulness is popping up quite a bit recently. During my journey practicing mindfulness with Sam Harris’ Waking Up meditation course, I chose a three-minute extra-curricular lesson on gratitude.

DAN ALBAS: Jody Wilson-Raybould was the target of a “consistent and sustained” effort by Prime Minister Trudeau, and his most senior staff, to politically interfere in the criminal case against SNC-Lavalin

As I sit down to write my weekly report I must admit to being at a loss for words. Yesterday on Parliament Hill, the former Justice Minister Jody Wilson-Raybould shared her details related to the emerging situation with . To be candid this testimony was shocking .... and has left Ottawa reeling. Ms. Wilson-Raybould stated on the record that she was the target of a “ consistent and sustained ” effort by Prime Minister Trudeau and his most senior staff to politically interfere in the criminal case against SNC-Lavalin. The testimony included references allegedly quoted from Mr. Trudeau’s Principal Secretary, stating that there would be (political) interference, that there was no solution without some interference . In addition, Mr. Trudeau’s Chief of Staff , Katie Telford, allegedly said they were “sick of legalities” . Other comments included statements such as “ we need to get re-elected .” and that if the former Justice Minister changed her mind that the

FELDSTED: Wernick is not elected and accountable to the public. The pompous ass deserves to be fired for overstepping his authority and attempting to shame an elected official in public

International Trade Diversification Minister Jim Carr isn’t saying whether he believes there was any undue pressure by officials on former attorney general Jody Wilson-Raybould in the SNC-Lavalin affair.   But he told the West Block’s Mercedes Stephenson he’s taking Prime Minister Justin Trudeau at his word and hopes Canadians’ “reasonableness” will prevail. “Canadians will have to make up their own minds,” said Carr, who the Prime Minister’s Office put up to answer questions on the matter. CLICK HERE to read to the full story Canadians are reasonable but not stupid. Contending that the Clerk of the Privy Council is non-partisan after the display he put on for the Commons Justice Committee is irrational. Michael Wernick was reading straight from the PMO teleprompter, and as a public servant, had no authority to deride the Attorney General as he did. Wernick is not elected and accountable to the public. The pompous ass deserves to be fired for ove
