Well it seems like the BC Conservative Party leadership
announcement ended up being much ado about nothing -- perhaps?
Maybe so, maybe not, as the leadership (being the Board and Executive) have still not been forthcoming on who the new interim leader is, or was to have been. This afternoon (April 7), after several days of speculation (CHNL newsperson Shane Woodford was also trying to find out details), there was still no word.

John Twigg is now the FORMER Director of Policy and Communications for the BC Conservative Party |
MEANTIME ... I decided to contact a BC political acquaintance, John Twigg, to see if I could find out even a crumb of information on what had happened. Much to my surprise he responded by saying to me ...
"Funny you should ask. I was literally at this moment debating on whether or not to tell you about my departure today from BCCP, and decided to not broadcast anything for fear of being seen as disputatious. I have told only a few friends, and some people who needed to know (like my official agent), that I have left the BC Conservative Party over a misunderstanding of what my role would be during the campaign."
He went further, stating, "This happened today at lunch so I am not at liberty to tell you what the party's plans may or may not be regarding an interim leader even if I knew what they are, which I do know but only slightly. You will have to ask someone who knows and has authority to speak."
So what plans does he have now? Hold onto your seats, the now former Director of Policy and Communications, for the BC Conservative Party, will be taking on the role of Leader in the BC First Party. He will also be running, as a candidate for the party, in North Island.
"I am
hopeful of churning out a great deal of political commentary and policy
proposals in the coming weeks -- it will focus on my Top 50 policy ideas and
the gross corruption of the B.C. Liberals.
I will not get into recriminations about BC Conservative Party affairs. I
wish them well, especially some of their excellent new candidates", he commented.
The BC First Alliance was launched by Roger Rocan, who is now deceased. BC First was used briefly by Bill Vander Zalm, and kept alive by a mutual friend Sal Vetro, who Twigg says has, "kindly taken me in."
Twigg went on to say, "I also may be endorsed by the Vancouver Island Party if they can't find a candidate up here, because I share most of their policy directions, and I will be endorsing their candidates."
The idea, of endorsing candidates, came from the BC Conservative Party less than two weeks ago ... it would allow BC voters to have more options to consideration in Mays General Election.
"I am looking forward, to being free as Leader of B.C. First, to publish whatever I think about issues of the day and propound whatever policy options I believe would be beneficial to the Province and its great people.
The people of BC have been waiting far too long to get good government, one with honesty, integrity and creative innovativeness.
I have developed a package of more than 50 new policy options, some of them radical, and while the B.C. Conservatives were willing to adopt some of them, such as the proposal for a new very short ferry crossing from Gabriola Island (which could be easily bridged to the big island) to Iona Island, and a new transit connection to Vancouver International Airport, other of my ideas were being resisted, notably the launching of a new Bank of B.C. and issuing a new parallel currency, which I now will be unveiling through B.C. First," said Twigg.
I am not sure at all about a parallel currency, I can't imagine how it could possibly work ... and the proposal to resurrect the Bank of BC seems like a complete non-starter.
That said, John Twigg has been a part of the BC political landscape since the 1970s, and has never neen one to back down from ideas he believes can benefit the people of BC.
One thing we can be certain of, and John already made it clear to me tonight ... "I can promise you it won't be a boring campaign!"

ReplyDeleteThere is the fringe element of the political arena.....and there, WAAAAY beyond the fringes.....is this guy. WOW!
ReplyDeleteNot even 3 or 4 days ago he was on me about being negative about the BCCP and how I knew nothing about him or politics. I told people that there is the fringe of politics and out there, somewhere WAY beyond the fringes of politics.....was this guy.
ReplyDeleteHave to really wander about the brain power of provincial conservatives that took this guy on as Director of Communications. Thanks to the brain dead elitists who control the BC Conservatives BCers such as myself don't have another alternative to vote for in BC. And you once the election is over they will be patting themselves on the back and saying what a wonderful job they have done. Could someone tell me is it true that the elitists offered the leadership job back to Brookes after firing him as leader? Oh yes and I forgot it is all Petersons fault! And for those who don't remember he is the guy that lost the election as leader to Brookes the first time.
