FAIR VOTE CANADA: Ask your MP to attend an event for just MPs to learn about a National Citizens’ Assembly on Electoral Reform!

 

In a few short months, MPs will be voting on Motion M-86 for a National Citizens’ Assembly on Electoral Reform.

The overwhelming majority of Canadians want to ditch first-past-the-post. We need MPs to step up, show courage and kickstart the change.

To win this groundbreaking vote, we need to reach as many MPs as possible—from ALL parties!—about what a National Citizens’ Assembly on Electoral Reform is, and why they should vote for it!

There is an amazing opportunity coming up:

MPs from three different parties (so far) are co-hosting a reception on November 1 near Parliament Hill, for MPs and staff only, to learn about Motion M-86 for a National Citizens’ Assembly on Electoral Reform.

Can you encourage your MP to attend this important event? 

At the reception on November 1, speakers including former Chief Electoral Officer Jean-Pierre Kingsley and groups including Apathy is Boring (that engages youth in democracy) and Fair Vote Canada will be there to talk to MPs. MPs are invited to so many events on and around Parliament Hill, it’s too easy for this one to get lost in the shuffle. That’s why we’re asking for you to send a message to your MP now. MPs need to know that citizens are paying attention and want them to attend this event! With your help we can continue to build support for a National Citizens’ Assembly on Electoral Reform from MPs from every party, and get across the line to an historic win for a stronger democracy.
