“I am a Canadian, free to speak without fear, free to worship in my own way, free to stand for what I think right, free to oppose what I believe wrong, or free to choose those who shall govern my country. This heritage of freedom I pledge to uphold for myself and all mankind.” ~~ John G. Diefenbaker

CTV: Parents worried about new supervised drug-use site near Montreal elementary school

Worried parents say they were blindsided by a decision to open Montreal's first supervised drug-inhalation facility less than 100 metres from their children's school.   The building is nearing completion in the St-Henri neighbourhood, only steps from Victor-Rousselot elementary, which counts 300 students from preschool through Grade 6.   That's too close for comfort for Sylvain Boitiere, a father of two children, ages four and six, who attend Victor-Rousselot. He said news that the new building would include supervised drug consumption came as a shock.   "It took an unexpected, unwanted turn," he said ... CLICK HERE for the full story

DAN ALBAS -- This is perhaps the first time where a well-known political talking point has now become a Ministry

Montreal now has 7 Ministers serving in Cabinet On Wednesday Prime Minister Trudeau announced his new cabinet. Anyone who thought having less seats and a minority Government would in turn result in a smaller cabinet will be disappointed to learn otherwise. By the numbers the new cabinet now has 37 Ministers, in contrast to the 31 Minister's announced by the Prime Minister after the 2015 majority. In order to add so many new Ministers, in some cases a new Ministry had to be created. As an example we now have a Minister of Middle Class Prosperity. This is perhaps the first time where a well-known political talking point has now become a Ministry. At this point it is unclear what will be the mandate of this or any Ministry as the official mandate letters have yet to be released. Not counting Prime Minister Trudeau, of the remaining 36 Ministers, 18 are female and 18 are male as the gender quota policy of the Prime Minister remains unchanged. What has changed is...

Aaron Gunn – Quebec’s politicians can’t keep having it both ways -- blocking construction of pipelines from Western Canada, while at the same time collecting equalization from the rest of the country

Quebec’s politicians are a bunch of hypocrites.    Here in Quebec they’re continuing to oppose pipelines from western Canada, while at the same time importing massive amounts of foreign oil to refinery’s like this one. And what’s their excuse?  That they’re concerned about the environment? Each day, tankers come down the Saint Lawrence River right over there, loaded to the brim with oil from practically anywhere but Canada. Where’s the concern then? And it’s not like Quebec doesn’t have any pipelines of their own.  In fact, the Trans Northern Pipeline actually distributes gasoline from a refinery in Montreal, to Eastern Ontario. But maybe worst of all, is the very industries and provinces they’ve worked so hard to oppose, are the very ones funding their entire government.   Receiving $13 billion from provinces like Alberta, BC, and Saskatchewan through federal equalization, funding their generous social programs at everyone else’s expens...

These will be the 18 in Montreal ... 25 in Toronto ... and 128 in Vancouver.
