“I am a Canadian, free to speak without fear, free to worship in my own way, free to stand for what I think right, free to oppose what I believe wrong, or free to choose those who shall govern my country. This heritage of freedom I pledge to uphold for myself and all mankind.” ~~ John G. Diefenbaker

'We're not splitting the right': Leader of BC's 2nd-newest political party lays out her stall (Now Media)

The leader of British Columbia’s second-youngest political party is making her pitch to voters. Karin Kirkpatrick is the leader of CentreBC, which was founded in March – just a few months before the Conservative Party of BC spin-off OneBC was created. She’s a former BC United/BC Liberal MLA who represented a riding in West Vancouver between 2020 and 2024. When BC United was eclipsed last year by the BC Conservatives – and after her then-leader, Kevin Falcon, agreed to clear the way for John Rustad’s party – Kirkpatrick tried to hold onto her riding as an independent. Despite winning more than 20 per cent of the vote, she was beaten by her BC Conservative rival. Now, having had several months to regroup after last October’s election, Kirkpatrick’s back in the game: and she’s gunning for both the BC NDP and the BC Conservatives ...  CLICK HERE for the full story

BC history shows that the right can't win when it's divided When British Columbia’s newest political party, CentreBC, launched on Thursday, NDP Premier David Eby wished it “the best of luck.” Eby’s well-wishes were no doubt genuine, as BC’s political history shows that any significant vote split on the right has resulted in an NDP government every time ... Kirkpatrick said she was left politically homeless when Falcon withdrew BC United from last year's provincial election campaign — and so were many political centrists like her ... "We've seen so much divisive conversation in politics over the last year … a lot of people in British Columbia were looking for an alternative that was more balanced" ... Rob Shaw: Can young blood revive BC United? (North Shore News)

It takes a lot for Gordon Campbell to come out of retirement and wade into B.C. politics, but a new candidate from BC United — the latest in a series of impressive new recruitments — appears to have done the trick.
