Reeve: When Martin Luther King Jr. was assassinated, Bobby Kennedy declared that “a sniper is only a coward, not a hero; and an uncontrolled, uncontrollable mob is only the voice of madness, not the voice of the people.” Six decades later, his words are just as important. Nine months ago, UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson was shot dead in New York. Three months ago, Democrat lawmaker Melissa Hortman was murdered in Minnesota. Last week, Republican activist Charlie Kirk was assassinated while speaking to a campus crowd. With each assassination, we saw online mobs celebrate.
