“I am a Canadian, free to speak without fear, free to worship in my own way, free to stand for what I think right, free to oppose what I believe wrong, or free to choose those who shall govern my country. This heritage of freedom I pledge to uphold for myself and all mankind.” ~~ John G. Diefenbaker

CAMPUS WATCH: Pro-Palestine gender studies department silent on Palestinians’ treatment of LGBTQ people (True North)

Queen’s University’s gender studies department, which issued a statement of solidarity with Palestine that denounced Israel as a “settler colonial state,” is staying mum on Palestine’s brutal treatment of LGBTQ people. The department has ignored several requests from True North asking if they condemn Palestine’s treatment of LGBTQ people, and if they support Israel serving as a safe haven for the LGBTQ in the Middle East ...   CLICK HERE for the full story

GLOBAL: Most say they support LGBTQ2S+ Canadians, but actions don’t line up: poll

While Canadians broadly support LGBTQ2S+ people and issues, they are less likely the engage in behaviours that show true allyship for the community, new polling conducted for Global News has found.   The majority of Canadians – 78 per cent – believe transgender people should be protected from discrimination in employment, housing and access to businesses. Seventy-four per cent believe that same-sex couples should have the same rights to adopt children as straight couples. However, the latest polling, conducted by Ipsos, found only a dismal one-in-10 consider themselves to be an active ally to the queer community.   Just under half (47 per cent) of Canadians express some degree of support, either in that they consider themselves active allies and/or engaged members of the community (10 per cent) or that they support the LGBTQ2S+ community, but do not actively engage in allyship (37 per cent) ...   CLICK HERE for the full story

It’s NOT EXACTLY the dramatic reduction you’d like people to think is happening

Early yesterday, Facebook reminded me of an image I had posted 12 months ago, with regards to Liberal Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, and his government. Ever quick to defend his party of choice, John of Kamloops quickly responded by stating: Cannabis is legal, over 800,000 people including over 300,000 children are now living above the poverty line, we all are entitled to medical assistance in ending our lives in the face of terrible, terminal diseases, transgendered people now have human rights protections.......all things Andrew Scheer voted against . First of all John, while StatsCan information (released earlier this year) did indeed show poverty declining in 2017, the Organization for Citizens Justice ( https://cpj.ca/ ), not exactly a Conservative leaning organization, indicated the following details: Poverty Trends 2017   ...   4.8 million people in Canada (or 13.9%) live in poverty .... down 0.5% from 2016 Current poverty tre...

The meaning then, and now, seems pretty clear to me … there is no room for any type of discrimination, in any school in BC

Mike Bernier stating references to sexual orientation and gender identity are being added to the policies that school districts and independent schools are required to have in place “ All of B.C.’s schools need to be welcoming and safe places free of bullying. We owe it to our children to make sure they know that there are no reasons they should be bullied – and including sexual orientation and gender identity in anti-bullying policies makes that crystal clear .”  ~~ statement by Mike Bernier, former Minister of Education, on September 8 th , 2016.   All of BC’s provincial education partners for K-12 schools are committed to ensuring every school — both public and independent — is a place where students feel safe, accepted, respected and welcome … stay tuned; more on that in a moment. I don’t know about you … however I will admit I am confused.  WHAT IS the difference between SOGI, and SOGI 123?  Oh, you didn’t know there was a difference?  We...
