“I am a Canadian, free to speak without fear, free to worship in my own way, free to stand for what I think right, free to oppose what I believe wrong, or free to choose those who shall govern my country. This heritage of freedom I pledge to uphold for myself and all mankind.” ~~ John G. Diefenbaker

I CAN'T support that kind of campaign, or a party that would allow a leadership team to okay that kind of campaigning

The BC Liberal Party "Troll" truck has been showing up at NDP campaign stops in recent days A friend and acquaintance asked me today, " If the BC Liberals are Liberals, then why do the use Federal Conservative 'blue' so prominently on their signs and advertising?   Isn't the Liberal color supposed to be Red? " Let me say, before going further, this individual has not lived in Canada for all that long, and so someone asking the question made perfect sense. I said to them, and I'm paraphrasing now, "BC is kind of a weird place. For a long time we had Liberal party ... the Conservative party ... and then after awhile we had the CCF, which eventually became the NDP. Now the Liberals were Liberal in every way ... the Conservatives were Conservative in every way ... and the CCF was the peoples party made up of socialists, unionists, and what I'll call social democrats. With a Conservative / Liberal coalitio...

Wednesday November 18th is just one short day away ... we'll find out tomorrow in Victoria

Last night, I had the opportunity to meet one on one with BC Conservative Party Leader Dan Brooks, here in Kamloops.   He'd had a long drive, coming down from Vanderhoof, and I could tell the length of the day, and the miles, had worn him out.   Part way through the day, he let me know that he was going to be delayed. It seems that just a short distance out of Williams Lake, he'd received a phone call from someone in Quesnel wanting to talk to him about running as a Conservative candidate, in the Quesnel North riding, in the next election.   He turned the truck around and headed back North to meet with the individual, and then headed back on his way to Kamloops; no wonder he looked worn! What's with political life that it takes someone young and vibrant, and seems to wear them down before your eyes?   I remember the provincial campaign, in the late 70's, when Dave Barrett's NDP government went down to defeat after just one term.   I also remember B...

Are the BC Conservatives a spent force, before even having a chance to grow past their petty infighting and self-inflicted wounds?

What’s next BC??? Regrettably, as in the past, it appears that we will at least for the foreseeable future, continue to have only two political choices, seeking the votes of British Columbians … the BC Liberals, and the “SpeNDP”.  That is unless something changes, and changes soon. Polarized politics in my opinion, whether on the Provincial or Federal level, always leads to dissatisfaction with voters.  We are a free thinking society, where a multitude of opinions, choices, ideas, and solutions can spring from.  With that in mind, how can all of that be funneled into just two choices, on the political front? British Columbian’s have continually faced the same situation (two choices) since the demise of the Socreds in the early 90’s … and the failure of the BC Reform Party to gain traction in the 1996 provincial election.  The demise of the Socreds and Reform, in my opinion, came about because of a lack of relevance to voters, and self-infli...
