“I am a Canadian, free to speak without fear, free to worship in my own way, free to stand for what I think right, free to oppose what I believe wrong, or free to choose those who shall govern my country. This heritage of freedom I pledge to uphold for myself and all mankind.” ~~ John G. Diefenbaker

Progressive Quebec is done with multiculturalism. Here’s why. (The Hub)

This spring, Quebec announced it was done with Canadian multiculturalism. The province’s Coalition Avenir Québec government, led by Premier François Legault, introduced Bill 84, an act seeking to compel immigrants to conform to the province’s culture. Under the new law, immigrants are expected to learn and use French as their primary language and embrace Quebec’s “common culture” and values, such as secularism, gender equality, and democracy. Organizations receiving government funding will also be required to align themselves with the legislation’s principles. The bill also makes changes to Quebec’s Charter to align human rights protections with the legislation. “Multiculturalism no longer applies on Quebec soil,” said Quebec’s Immigration Minister Jean-François Roberge, adding that it belongs in the “dustbin of history" ... It’s time Canadians admitted Alberta’s oilpatch pays the bills. Other provinces just cash the cheques (Troy Media)

Alberta’s oil bankrolls Canada’s public services By Perry Kinkaide and Bill Jones When Canadians grumble about Alberta’s energy ambitions—labelling the province greedy for wanting to pump more oil—few stop to ask how much money from each barrel ends up flowing to them? The irony is staggering. The very provinces rallying for green purity are cashing cheques underwritten not just by Alberta, but indirectly by the United States, which purchases more than 95 per cent of Alberta’s oil and gas, paid in U.S. dollars. That revenue doesn’t stop at the Rockies. It flows straight to Ottawa, funding equalization programs (which redistribute federal tax revenue to help less wealthy provinces), national infrastructure and federal services that benefit the rest of the country. This isn’t political rhetoric. It’s economic fact. Before the Leduc oil discovery in 1947, Alberta received about $3 to $5 billion (in today’s dollars) in federal support. Since then, it has paid back more than $500 ...

BRETT WILSON -- Sadly, for the Conservatives, some believe that to win they need to act more like Liberals

There is a lot of thought around the future of the Conservative Party of Canada (CPC), with three election losses in a row. With three different leaders it seems that the CPC might now be in limbo. There are different opinions in what direction the CPC need to go in to win a Majority Government, and there are a number of issues that are currently facing the party that seem to be ignored by the membership. They include: The Old Guard: Conservative Party headquarters, and the Office of the Leader of the Opposition (OLO), have failed. They have clung on to the strategy of 2011 and hoping people will just want a strong economy again. Let us be clear here, for the CPC to be successful the failures still in OLO and HQ need to be purged out completely. They have run the ship into the same iceberg the elections in a row. For the Conservatives to thrive they need cut off the idea that the economy is the #1 issue for majority of Canadians … which brings us to the second issue: Economy ...

’20 for 2020’ ... those wishing to lead government in the BC legislature, should insist on there being a Tripe “E” Senate

The Canadian Senate Today is a change of plans from what I had intended on day number eighteen of ’20 for 2020’ , and it was inspired after a post which I wrote yesterday regarding, regarding the BC Green Party still receiving extra government funds , after the leave taking of former leader Andrew Weaver. The post was picked up by the Armchair Mayor, where I am identified as ... a Kamloops resident and former member of the Reform Party of Canada and the B.C. Reform Party, and a past and current member of the BC Conservative Party. An individual named Joey Thomas, rather than actually commenting on the story, instead stated ... ‘ A former reform party member? No thanks. How's the whole triple E senate thing going Al ?’ So, yah ... I have never reversed my thoughts that Preston Manning, and the Reform Parties, call to have a Triple E Senate should become reality.   That is why I responded by stating: “You find it a joke that ANY Prime Minister ...
