The Conservatives want a smaller government, a stronger military and an increased role for private business. The Liberals see investing in infrastructure, pipelines, the CBC and defence spending as the path to strengthen Canada in the face of U.S. belligerence. Meanwhile, the NDP are pushing a different vision: they want to increase government spending in health care, a green economy and housing, and increase taxes on wealthy people ... Over the next 20 days, I plan to present what I’m going to call 20 for 2020

Happy New Year ... and welcome to 2020.    To start the year off, I plan, over the next three weeks, to present what I’m going to call “ 20 for 2020” ... ideas which I believe should be implemented by any political party who wishes to govern us. Some of these will be longer, and some will be shorter.   Five of these ideas are policies which, in large part, have been put forward by the BC's Conservative Party ... many are ideas from my own experiences being involved in BC politics for over two decades ... and some are suggestions from friends and political acquaintances. While they are numbered, they are random in order, and so they should not be interpreted as being presented in order of importance. Let’s begin with number one, " Its about You" , which is loosely paraphrased from a policy of the BC Conservatives ...  

LAILA YUILE -- Self-reflect about why people aren’t choosing your party, and actually listen to what others concerns are, instead of bashing them with fear

I have friends of most political leanings. I have always said no one owns your vote but you, and that it's wrong for others to bully you with fear to make you change your vote. Still. I’m always bemused at why so many NDP and Liberal Party supporters feel that: others should change their vote, but they would never change their own, and … blaming the other person for a Conservative Party government is an appropriate response when the other person doesn’t want to change their vote. If you want others to consider your chosen parties’ platform, push your leader and policy makers to step up in areas they are lacking instead of focusing on other peoples votes.   Self-reflect about why people aren’t choosing your party, and actually listen to what others concerns are, instead of bashing them with fear.
