“I am a Canadian, free to speak without fear, free to worship in my own way, free to stand for what I think right, free to oppose what I believe wrong, or free to choose those who shall govern my country. This heritage of freedom I pledge to uphold for myself and all mankind.” ~~ John G. Diefenbaker

FELDSTED -- The Perils of Unconstitutional Governance

The news of Governor General Julie Payette’s resignation or a similar problem was inevitable. There is a president and more to come. Our federal government is operating unconstitutionally. Our constitution requires that: 9.   The Executive Government and Authority of and over Canada is hereby declared to continue and be vested in the Queen. 10. The Provisions of this Act referring to the Governor General extend and apply to the Governor General for the time being of Canada, or other the Chief Executive Officer or Administrator for the time being carrying on the Government of Canada on behalf and in the Name of the Queen, by whatever Title he is designated. 11. There shall be a Council to aid and advise in the Government of Canada, to be styled the Queen’s Privy Council for Canada; and the Persons who are to be Members of that Council shall be from Time to Time chosen and summoned by the Governor General and sworn in as Privy Council

NDP Homeless policy straining police resources

Crime statistics released earlier this week by the Victoria Police Department outline how police departments are being forced to bear the burden of the NDP’s poor management of homeless shelters and tent encampments.     “ These statistics show the impact of Victoria’s homelessness issue on police resources, as officers do their best to keep up with a staggering increase in violence and property crime tied to locations sheltering people experiencing homelessness ,” said Mike Morris, Opposition Critic for Public Safety and Solicitor General.   “ We have been calling on government to increase mental health and addictions supports and take real action to help curb this rise in crime which has resulted from a lack of government help. It’s not fair to the people experiencing homelessness and it is not acceptable for these communities, residents and small businesses to be forced to pay the price of the NDP’s unwillingness to

CATHY McLEOD – Vaccine delays and a new skating rink in 100 Mile House

More waits for vaccine   The delay in delivery of Pfizer vaccines to Canada means even more uncertainty for Canadians who are waiting and wondering when they are going to receive it.   While COVID-19 numbers skyrocket and the Liberals try to reassure us how many doses are ordered, the vaccines aren’t here now when we need them. Other countries are outpacing Canada in vaccinations: the U.S., UK, Israel and Italy, for example.   People are contacting my office asking when it will be their turn. Sadly, there is no clear answer.   According to the province, which manages health care, front-line workers in hospitals and long-term care facilities are the first group receiving the vaccine in B.C. Next are remote First Nations and long-term care facility residents, staff and essential visitors. After that, it’s anyone over 80, General Practitioners and other health-care workers, those in correctional facilities, and marginalized populations, like the homeless.   A good reso
