“I am a Canadian, free to speak without fear, free to worship in my own way, free to stand for what I think right, free to oppose what I believe wrong, or free to choose those who shall govern my country. This heritage of freedom I pledge to uphold for myself and all mankind.” ~~ John G. Diefenbaker

Today’s shocking Site C announcement is a classic example of NDP mismanagement and their lack of leadership on important files

The BC Liberals are raising serious concerns about the NDP’s management of the Site C Project after a report released today by BC Hydro reveals that, despite inheriting the project that was on time and budget in 2017, the NDP has no idea what it will ultimately cost or when it will begin producing electricity. “ Today’s shocking Site C announcement is a classic example of NDP mismanagement and their lack of leadership on important files ,” said Greg Kyllo, BC Liberal Critic for BC Hydro and MLA for Shuswap. “ When asked about the project in the summer of 2017, former NDP energy minister Michelle Mungall confirmed that the project was on time and budget, meaning it is this NDP government that is solely responsible for any delays or cost overruns we are now seeing .” A further report for the BC Utilities Commission , dated September 8, 2017, confirms that the Site C project remained on time and budget when the NDP came to power. FELDSTED -- There are skunks in our living room!

Watching the WE soap opera unfold is surreal. As the days pass and more details are revealed we can conclude that no one is telling the truth and everyone is hiding details. When the brothers Kielburger said they did not have a profit motive in engaging in the student grant program, they sounded like idiots. The WE charity stood to gain fees for administration along with substantial prestige. Fees paid to Justin Trudeau’s mother and brother are incidental -- as is Bill Morneau’s daughter’s employment with WE. Trudeau and Morneau have both strongly supported the WE organization for years. That is perfectly legitimate and legal. However, that support precludes the government from doing business with the WE organization. Not only is it a blatant conflict of interest, but since the WE organization was to be paid fees and would enhance its prestige, it also becomes a criminal issue. Government officials can’t do business with friends who stand to gain from the transaction. That is cor

LESLYN LEWIS -- Canadians deserve answers and not the deflections that Justin Trudeau can get away with -- there must be consequences, including consequences for not telling the truth

Politicians don’t ultimately represent their parties, and they don’t represent merely themselves. At the end of the day Members of Parliament represent their constituents and they should be answerable to them. That is not happening and it needs to change. What the WE scandal has proven once and for all is that the Prime Minister and many of his Liberal colleagues do not think that they need to answer to anybody. They make this clear by not giving answers about anything to anyone, not in the House of Commons, not in parliamentary committees, not even to their friends in the media. As a Canadian, watching the last few Finance Committee hearings with the Prime Minister, the Finance minister and the other witness speaking to the WE charity fiasco was deeply disturbing. We had half a billion dollars being sent to a shell company and nobody is actually having to answer for it. The Liberal MPs didn’t even seem that interested in getting answers from the Kielburger brothers, choo
