“I am a Canadian, free to speak without fear, free to worship in my own way, free to stand for what I think right, free to oppose what I believe wrong, or free to choose those who shall govern my country. This heritage of freedom I pledge to uphold for myself and all mankind.” ~~ John G. Diefenbaker

Long-time former BC Liberal supporter says, I am definitely not hanging in there with BC United

                         BC United leader Kevin Falcon

I recently asked a political acquaintance of mine, about their current involvement with BC United.  I was much surprised with the response given the BC Liberals had been the recipient of a lot of their time and energy in the past. By request, their comments are posted anonymously:

I am definitely not hanging in there with BC United. Kevin’s poor judgement in ousting John Rustad from Caucus, and then publicly humiliating him, might be the most inept thing I have seen in BC politics ... and I’ve been involved in BC politics for a number of years!

I still think the impetus was John‘s involvement in the Ellis Ross leadership campaign for the BC Liberal Party, and how successful and respected (despite not winning) it was.

I am uncertain about the tenor of the current Conservative movement in North America. The once proud Republican Party in the United States has allowed itself to be led by a person who is morally, intellectually, emotionally and ethically bankrupt.

Conservative BC leader John Rustad

I see some threads of that amongst the fringes in Canada, and I would hate to see the fringes take over the Conservative Party of Canada, which was once well led by Mulroney and Harper.

If John can remind his BC Conservative candidates that they are running to serve everyone, and not just to advocate for personal single-issues, then I am hopeful.
When I see
in vitro fertilization (IVF) being made illegal in Alabama (as one example) it scares me how things can go completely off the rails with the persistence of the single-issue gang.

The pendulum may have swung too far to the left, but autocracy is not the answer -- end of rant!

Rest assured, I see John as a thoroughly decent, thoughtful and thinking person

  1. Conservative Party "once well led by Mulroney and Harper"? He or she is kidding, right? Mulroney signed Canada on to the WEF Agenda 2030; and we're STILL trying to fix all the damage Harper did in HIS decade~long rampage!!
Politics EVERYWHERE in Canada, all the way from the Section 35 Indian Act Band Councils all the way to the PM in Ottawa, are entirely broken! How can they not be? ALL COLONIAL CONSTRUCTS!
I'm happy to see Canadians are finally WAKING UP however. I dearly hope it's not "too little too late".
Oh Canada, our home on Native Land!

KRUGELL: BC NDP turns its attention from BC United to BC Conservatives

The BC NDP turning its attention, from BC United, to BC Conservatives was reported over the weekend from a variety of sources. It is the result of the surge in the BC Conservative's polling numbers and the subsequent collapse of BC United. The NDP has largely ignored the BC Conservatives, instead they opt to talk about issues directly or attack their old foes BC United. Practical politics says that parties closer to the centre tend to ultimately prevail over the long haul. They do wane but often make comebacks. A good example is the federal Liberals going from third party to government in 2015. Centrism has a lot of appeal on voting day. The NDP shifting its fire from United to Conservative is a reflection of reality. BC United did buy advertising online and radio over the last few months. Did that shift the polls back to them? Nope. The reality is today, the BC Conservatives are the party of the Opposition, and day by day the Conservatives are looking like a party not ready to fig

RCMP gag order comes after BC NDP catch heat for diverted safe supply (Northern Beat)

In the wake of several high-profile police drug seizures of suspected safer supply that put the BC NDP government on the defensive last month, BC RCMP “E” division issued a gag order on detachments, directing them to run all communications on “hot button” public safety issues through headquarters in the lead-up to the provincial election. “It is very clear we are in a pre-election time period and the topic of ‘public safety’ is very much an issue that governments and voters are discussing,” writes a senior RCMP communications official in an email dated Mar. 11 in what appears to have gone out to all BC RCMP detachments . . . . BC child killer's name change prompts criticism, political finger-pointing (Times Colonist)

The fact that child killer Allan Schoenborn has successfully changed his name under BC laws has prompted finger-pointing among politicians. BC Premier David Eby told media Thursday that in 2002 when opposition leader Kevin Falcon was the Minister of Deregulation he removed regulations under the Name Act that ensured name changes would be published publicly in the BC Gazette ...
