Conservative Party of British Columbia Leader, John Rustad is asking for an RCMP investigation into allegations of corruption involving MNP and Premier Eby’s NDP.
“We don’t know why this alleged self-dealing by MNP was allowed to happen, but we do know that MNP has lobbied Premier Eby’s government and was allowed to distribute these funds. We need an independent RCMP investigation to determine what has gone on here — and if crimes have been committed,” says Rustad.
Conservative House Leader, Bruce Banman also expressed his concern with the allegations.
“To me, this is being described like a mafia-style shakedown. MNP is hired by Premier Eby to choose who gets this grant money — and they take twenty percent as a fee, to choose who gets the money — this is clearly unethical, but is it also criminal?”, asks Conservative Party House Leader Bruce Banman.
Rustad adds that the alleged misconduct is made worse by Premier Eby’s decision to have all NDP MLAs unanimously vote against BC’s opposition parties, delaying an independent investigation from BC’s Auditor General.
“Taxpayers deserve to know if something criminal has happened. Premier Eby is a trained lawyer — we don’t know why he initially blocked the Auditor General’s Office from investigating his MNP scandal, but this looks like a cover up.
We need the RCMP to investigate what has happened with taxpayers money,” concludes Rustad.
