SONIA FURSTENAU -- This government needs to follow through on a regulated and accessible safe supply

Five people die each day in British Columbia due to drug poisonings. Monday’s budget put $330 million towards treatment beds and supervised consumption sites. But these are long-term measures that do not immediately address our current reality.
Over 900 people, as of February, have died since a safe supply was promised by this government in September. On Tuesday I pressed Sheila Malcolmson (@S_Malcolmson) on if her government would fulfill that promise and immediately fund a regulated safe supply in order to stop these tragic and unnecessary deaths.
The Minister said that $22.6 million over 3 years was dedicated to fund several programs, including a safe supply.
We are going to dig into this during estimates because this government needs to follow through on a regulated and accessible safe supply. Lives depend on it.
