“I am a Canadian, free to speak without fear, free to worship in my own way, free to stand for what I think right, free to oppose what I believe wrong, or free to choose those who shall govern my country. FRASER INSTITUTE: Education spending up in public schools

Contrary to what we often hear, spending is on the rise in public schools across Canada – and in most cases, it’s outpacing inflation and enrollment changes!

A new study published by the Fraser Institute today finds that per student spending in public schools across Canada increased in 8 of ten provinces between 2012-13 and 2020-21.

It also finds that annual spending in public schools in Canada increased by $7.8 billion more than was necessary to account for changes in enrolment and inflation between 2012/13 and 2020/21.

Quebec saw the largest increase in spending over this time period, followed by Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island.
