If one is lucky in life, he will have a firm friend and mentor like Hugh Segal.

 

... In these dark days of even darker methods that define so much of Canadian politics, Segal’s legacy will live on each time a partisan reaches across the floor in friendship and respect to clasp the hand of an opponent.

 

It will also live on whenever a politician chooses country above party.

 

He was saddened by the state of politics today but didn’t despair. Always an optimist, Segal knew there would be a return to a time when decency would again be the rule, not the exception, in politics ...
