“I am a Canadian, free to speak without fear, free to worship in my own way, free to stand for what I think right, free to oppose what I believe wrong, or free to choose those who shall govern my country. KRUGGEL: Mark Carney and the Liberals have no idea how the Firearms Act works and rather than get a briefing on it, they just spew garbage

The section on firearms is designed to appeal to the ignorant.

Honestly, I read the section on guns and I laughed. I laughed because Mark Carney and the Liberals have no idea how the Firearms Act works and rather than get a briefing on it, they just spew garbage.

Automatically revoking gun licenses for people convicted of violent crimes, particularly when those crimes include intimate partner violence.

Well that is already in the Firearms Act. Anyone that is arrested for any serious crime gets their PAL/RPAL suspended. The police already confiscate people's firearms in that instance and even when a firearms owner is found not guilty they have to apply to the court to get their license reinstated and their firearms back. That doesn't always happen.

Passing legislation making the RCMP responsible for classifying new firearm models rather than the gun industry.

The Liberals passed amendments giving the RCMP that power 2 years ago. Are the Liberals even aware of what they do in Parliament? They did this. This is already the law.

Increasing funding to the RCMP's forensic laboratories to help law enforcement better track down guns used in crimes.

The problem with tracing firearms is that it almost always ends up in a dead end. Contrary to what you see on television ballistics isn't like finger prints. Police forces rely on serial numbers and other markings on firearms to track them. They are always several. Criminals file those numbers and markings off. That's the first thing people do with stolen or illegal firearms.

Even when firearms are traced it usually leads to the most common source which is the black market of illegally smuggled American guns which flow over the border.

Strengthen the oversight of firearms licensing and enforcement.

Licensed firearms owners are the one demographic in Canada least likely to commit a violent crime. Statistics Canada has had this data for decades. It's public knowledge. How does clamping down on licensed owners make anyone safer? The fact is, especially after the last 9 years, it does not.

The Liberals put a freeze on the transfer of all restricted firearms in May 2020. That means while owners may still use them at the range they cannot sell them, buy new ones, and businesses cannot sell new ones or import them for that matter. This includes handguns. Since May 2020 crimes using handguns have surged across Canada.

Given every restricted firearm is registered we know that those held by licensed owners are accounted for. If a registered firearm goes missing the owner must report it to the RCMP. If they don't and the RCMP were to do an inspection at some random date, which they are allowed to do, and the owner cannot produce the firearm they are in serious legal peril.

The surge in handgun crimes is from smuggled firearms. We all know this. Yet now Mark Carney wants to continue the against licensed owners.

Finally, he wants to hire 1,000 new officers for the RCMP. I can't complain about that. We need more cops. That's a fact. But what about provinces and cities that have their own police forces? I'm guessing this doesn't help them - which includes Vancouver, Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal where we have major gang activity.

This might be the first piece of Mark Carney's platform not stolen from Pierre Poilievre. Say what you want about Mr. Poilievre, and I know he's not loved, but he's yet to come up with a policy announcement this rooted in ignorance.

Harsh word? Yes. Accurate? Yes.

“4.5 million hectares of forest lands have burned since 2023, and the best they can do is point to a 90-hectare block being salvaged?” ~~ Ward Stamer, Kamloops-North Thompson MLA

Today, BC NDP forest Minister Ravi Parmar made this pronouncement; ‘Removing red tape has sped up permitting, allowing for more wood to be salvaged, quicker’. 4.5 million hectares of forest lands have burned since 2023, and the best they can do is point to a 90-hectare block?    ~~ BC Conservative Forests Critic Ward Stamer While acknowledging the NDP government has recognized improvements were needed in permitting and accessing burnt fibre in a timely fashion, the reality is, they are barely making a dent in the problem.  This government's recognition that only seven percent of pulp mill fibre came from burnt timber in 2024-25, quite simply put, is a failure. And the recent announcement, just three weeks ago, that the Crofton Pulp Mill would be permanently closing, is proof of that.     Instead of Premier David Eby’s government addressing core issues being faced by British Columbia’s forest industry, they are doing little more than manipulating the facts, ...

A message from BC Conservative MLA Ward Stamer, and the Kamloops – North Thompson Riding Association

2025 was a busy first year. As a Caucus, we worked very hard to defeat Bills 14 and 15, legislation which allows the provincial government to move ahead without environmental assessments on renewable projects, and that also allows cabinet to build infrastructure projects without getting approval from local municipal governments. This is not acceptable to your BC Conservative caucus, and we will continue to press this government for open and transparent projects in the future.  Two things we had success in were having the first Private Members bill passed in over 40 years. The first was Jody Toors Prenatal and Post Natal Care bill, and then there was my private members Bill M217 Mandatory Dashcams in commercial vehicles (passed second reading unanimously and is heading to Committee in February). Regrettably, much of the legislation passed by the government was little more than housekeeping bills, or opportunities to strengthen the ability of Cabinet Ministers to bypass the BC legi...

Wildfire waste plan torched -- Forestry critic Stamer calls BC's wildfire salvage rate 'a failure'

Claims that BC is making progress salvaging wildfire-damaged timber are masking deeper problems in the forest sector, the province’s forestry critic says. Last week, BC’s Ministry of Forests said mills in the province processed more than one million cubic metres of wildfire chips in 2024-25, up from 500,000 cubic metres in 2023 and representing about seven per cent of all processed wood. Kamloops-North Thompson BC Conservative MLA Ward Stamer said those claims of progress ignore the reality that only a fraction of burned timber is being used ... CLICK HERE for the full story
