“I am a Canadian, free to speak without fear, free to worship in my own way, free to stand for what I think right, free to oppose what I believe wrong, or free to choose those who shall govern my country. This heritage of freedom I pledge to uphold for myself and all mankind.” ~~ John G. Diefenbaker

Simpson says the days of bullying people into silence by calling them names is over. Then why is she bullying - threatening - reprimanding – and arguing against a select group of people being able to have the same human rights as all Canadians

Have you ever heard of Kari Simpson? I might be wrong, but if you haven't, I'd say that you’re lucky!

As the Executive Director for the Culture Guard website, and Facebook page , she is responsible for much of what is disseminated – regrettably.

Simpson threatens protest at Surrey RCMP detachment
Her latest target?

On her Culture Guard Facebook page, Kari Simpson is threatening a protest at the Surrey RCMP detachment, if they raise what she calls the anti-Canadian political symbol, the rainbow flag.  In fact, she is telling people to contact RCMP and say tell them STOP!”

As part the rationale replayed to the RCMP, in a four-page Culture Guard letter, she quotes the RCMP Code of Conduct regulations. For example:

2.1  Respect and Courtesy:
Members treat every person with respect and courtesy and do not engage in discrimination or harassment

SERIOUSLY!  How can she possibly use that as the first reason in threatening the Surrey RCMP with a protest should they raise the Pride Flag?

Or how about this one, she also use for her rationale, under the Respect for the Law and the Administration of Justice:

3.1  Members respect the law and the rights of all individuals
3.2  Members act with integrity, fairness, impartiality, and do not compromise or abuse their authority, power of position

AGAIN ... every the about 3.1 and 3.2 goes completely against her argument.  Does she not understand this?

Oh, but she’s not done yet as she continues to quote the RCMP Code of Conduct – this time the section dealing with Discreditable Conduct:

7.1 Members behave in a manner that is not likely to discredit the force.

Culture Guard Executive Director Kari Simpson
Somehow it seems, and appears, that Ms. Simpson has no understanding of Human Rights and discrimination -- and so she threatens a protest against the RCMP if they don’t agree to not raise the Pride flag.

In my opinion, the RCMP, behaving in the manner in which she is demanding, would indeed discredit the them amongst the majority of British Columbians, and Canadians.

She goes on, and on, and on in her four-page diatribe, with more of the same.

These unsavory politically motivated trends (what? being LGBTQ2s is a trend?) must not be allowed to impugn the once proud reputation of Canada’s national police force. It is imperative that the RCMP protect its’ impartiality. Flying this political symbol does exactly the opposite

In an exchange Ms. Simpson and I had, I stated to her:

Please stop posting items like this here - you have your own Culture Guard Facebook page, where this, regrettably, would be welcome.  Your own organization, has this same post / story ... and I have to state unequivocally that you are a hateful person, and your comments border (only slightly) on hate speech ... especially when your state the Pride flag is an, "... anti-Canadian political symbol ..."

Her response?

If advocating for the RCMP to remain politically neutral is "hate speech" you are on the wrong page.

If you believe exposing sex activists are anti-Canadian by abusing our schools, our children, violating the rights of others to engage in free speech, and assembly you are on the wrong page.

The over-whelming majority of people in this group share the growing concerns of Canadians across the country sex politics and the extremism therein must end.

Political parties who want to govern MUST start addressing the Goliath stomping over our nation ... can make an impact this next election by taking a strong position on parental rights, stop the government funding of sex activist political organizations operating as "non-profit organizations".

She went, saying:

Exposing truth is not hate speech. I support the rights of all people in our free society, until they want to trample on mine. You are going to have to move into the reality that the tide has turned on these issues Alan. The days of bullying people into silence by calling them names is over. The affects of the sex activist political agenda is devastating, it is time to stop the assault upon our children, our rights and the public coffers.”

Hold on a minute .... ‘The days of bullying people into silence by calling them names is over’?

What the hell does she think she is doing?  Bullying ... threatening ... reprimanding ... arguing against a select group of people being able to have the same human rights as all Canadians.

And then there’s her comment that she’ll ... support the rights of all people in our free society, until they want to trample on mine. If that’s her argument for being allowed to trample on the LGBTQ2s community, what about others who will say she is trampling on their rights. Or the beliefs of the multitudes of large or small groups that people will have disagreement with?

I am uncertain why, however in disagreeing with her, I was apparently ... in a nasty mood!

A quick read of the BC Human Rights Code will brighten your day! You see the purpose of the code is to ensure everyone gets to participate in our free society, mutual respect, without impediment.

I bet you thought that was a reply from me to Ms. Simpson? Well it wasn’t. Those were her words to me as she lectured me on Human Rights.

Regardless, all I can say is with as much apparent anger as Kari Simpson has towards the LGBTQ2S community, and her appalling desire to drive them back in to the closet, I have to feel sorry for her, and those in her organization that support and agree with those kinds of beliefs.

What do you think about this?  I'd appreciate hearing your thoughts.

RCMP gag order comes after BC NDP catch heat for diverted safe supply (Northern Beat)

In the wake of several high-profile police drug seizures of suspected safer supply that put the BC NDP government on the defensive last month, BC RCMP “E” division issued a gag order on detachments, directing them to run all communications on “hot button” public safety issues through headquarters in the lead-up to the provincial election. “It is very clear we are in a pre-election time period and the topic of ‘public safety’ is very much an issue that governments and voters are discussing,” writes a senior RCMP communications official in an email dated Mar. 11 in what appears to have gone out to all BC RCMP detachments . . . . KRUGELL: BC NDP turns its attention from BC United to BC Conservatives

The BC NDP turning its attention, from BC United, to BC Conservatives was reported over the weekend from a variety of sources. It is the result of the surge in the BC Conservative's polling numbers and the subsequent collapse of BC United. The NDP has largely ignored the BC Conservatives, instead they opt to talk about issues directly or attack their old foes BC United. Practical politics says that parties closer to the centre tend to ultimately prevail over the long haul. They do wane but often make comebacks. A good example is the federal Liberals going from third party to government in 2015. Centrism has a lot of appeal on voting day. The NDP shifting its fire from United to Conservative is a reflection of reality. BC United did buy advertising online and radio over the last few months. Did that shift the polls back to them? Nope. The reality is today, the BC Conservatives are the party of the Opposition, and day by day the Conservatives are looking like a party not ready to fig

Baldrey: 2024 meets 1991? How B.C. election history could repeat itself (Times Colonist)

NOTE ... not the original image from Keith Baldrey's op/ed 1991 BC general election -- Wikipedia   A veteran NDP cabinet minister stopped me in the legislature hallway last week and revealed what he thinks is the biggest vulnerability facing his government in the fall provincial election. It’s not housing, health care, affordability or any of the other hot button issues identified by pollsters. "I think we are way too complacent,” he told me. “Too many people on our side think winning elections are easy.” He referenced the 1991 election campaign as something that could repeat itself. What was supposed to be an easy NDP victory then almost turned into an upset win for the fledgling BC Liberal Party. Indeed, the parallels between that campaign and the coming fall contest are striking ... CLICK HERE for the full story
