MAID for mental illness is slated to come into effect in 2027, though 10 provinces and territories have advocated for an ‘indefinite pause’ (Canadian Affairs)


Dr. Francois de Wet dreads March 2027, when Canada plans to allow adults suffering only from mental illness to qualify for medically assisted deaths. 

“I’m very, very worried about it,” he said. 

De Wet — a family doctor with 30 years of experience — worries about how this expansion could impact his patients who struggle with mental health.

Tourists Rack Up $200M in Unpaid Health Bills While BC Patients Wait Years for Care

While British Columbians wait years for basic medical care, the NDP government has allowed non-residents to rack up $200.6 million in unpaid health bills since 2020-2021. NDP Finance Minister Given "F" on Report Card by Canadian Taxpayers Federation
