British Columbia could be left importing electricity for a third consecutive year, according to one industry expert.

Ongoing drought conditions in the province are again cutting into BC’s ability to generate hydroelectric power, according to Energy Futures Institute chair and former environment minister Barry Penner.

The federal government has announced new measures to support British Columbia's forestry sector, including $65 million in funding for projects across the province. While any support is welcome, it falls far short of the level of assistance other provinces have secured for key industries.
