The NDP government’s stealth intervention in BC Supreme Court to secure constitutional recognition of Aboriginal title over Haida Gwaii has drawn a strong rebuke from legal scholar Dwight Newman.

Last month’s proceedings raise, “major questions as to whether the BC government effectively sought and got an illicit constitutional amendment from the court,” says the professor of constitutional law at the University of Saskatchewan.
