“I am a Canadian, free to speak without fear, free to worship in my own way, free to stand for what I think right, free to oppose what I believe wrong, or free to choose those who shall govern my country. This heritage of freedom I pledge to uphold for myself and all mankind.” ~~ John G. Diefenbaker

Each and every one of them is recommending an erroneous suggestion, which could alter your democratic right to be heard

Today I completed filling in my ballot for the Referendum Vote – and NO, I did NOT “Vote One and Done”, as the BC Liberal Party is recommending you do.  In so doing, each and every one of them is recommending an erroneous suggestion, which could alter your democratic right to be heard, and to have a say in any future voting system we may have for the next provincial election!

Todd Stone, Peter Milobar, and every other BC Liberal MLA in the province –- including their leader Andrew Wilkinson -- want you to believe that the Electoral Referendum, currently underway, is complicated ... IT IS NOT.

Day after day, you are hearing the BC Liberals tell you the referendum is complicated – and that is likely having you wonder, ‘How can Alan possibly say it isn’t?’.

I can, because for starters, there is plenty of unbiased information available at Elections BC … and secondly, if you check out this short 4 minute 28 second video, I can guarantee you’ll see the simplicity of the referendum questions.  And after that??
Take another 32 seconds to mark your ballot, and stuff it in the envelope.  Then?  You’re done, and all in 5 minutes or less.

It IS simple – It IS easy -- and to be quite honest, even NDP MLA, and Cabinet Minister, Melanie Mark will be able to understand it. https://static.xx.fbcdn.net/images/emoji.php/v9/f4c/1/16/1f642.png?_nc_eui2=AeE6fAUQs4OgIbMChAJ6Y74W6JVDgK1CM1OSXXFFz8lOHFcDNLl1bVWEgrZMlBoCCCnFe44GhoByp93L5PlFAdu8AHjyh7RNhHyTH8HvXnBKrQ

Now once you do watch the video, and as you prepare to mark your ballot, please consider selecting Rural Urban as your choice of which Proportional Representation option you prefer.  That is my one and only request, and here’s why.

I believe this will best protect the smaller rural regions, and communities of our province, by maintaining their existing ridings, and having one MLA to represent them.  Meantime, larger Urban Ridings will use a ranked ballot to select their MLA of choice.  It also permits them to rank their choice from the one they would most wish to represent them … down to the least, with as many choices as they care to make. (IE: First Choice, Second Choice, Third Choice, etc)

Best of all --- you can answer Question #2, even if you do vote to retain our First Past the Post (FPTP) system.  If you don’t do this, and the vote to switch to Proportional Representation (PR) wins the day, then you’ll have thrown away your opportunity to have a say.

Incredibly, that is what the BC Liberal Party is telling you to so. It’s wrong, completely wrong, and I will continue to say so!

Protect your democratic right on how you will be able to vote, and remember it’s NOT ... “One and done!

It's ... Choose Two, because

it’s the right thing to do!”

Kamloops woman’s cancer test cancelled due to Interior Health mandates for OB/GYNs (iNFO News)

A Kamloops woman’s cancer screening appointment was considered urgent by her doctors and scheduled within weeks, but it was postponed indefinitely when Interior Health ordered her gynecologist take that day’s on-call shift. Troylana Manson now waits with the mystery of whether she might have cancer amid a staffing crisis for women’s health care specialists in Kamloops. “I was happy to have that appointment in December so we could rule this out, but now it’s thrown in the air again. People in Kamloops, certainly people in positions of power, need to realize what Interior Health is doing”  ... CLICK HERE for the full story

One arrested at OneBC event at UVic that draws protesters (Times Colonist)

A would-be speaker was arrested under the Trespass Act after she arrived at the University of Victoria on Tuesday for an event intended to shed light on what the OneBC political party refers to as the “reconciliation industry.”  An officer at the scene initially said two people were arrested, after protesters scuffled with those trying to hold the unsanctioned event. Saanich police issued a statement later Tuesday saying only one person was arrested.  Police did not name the person who was arrested, but OneBC leader Dallas Brodie said it was Frances Widdowson, who was later released ... Eby misled British Columbians about Cowichan appeal; court records show no stay was ever filed; Conservative leader John Rustad

Conservative Opposition Leader John Rustad says Premier David Eby has been caught misleading the public after court records confirmed the government never filed the stay of the Cowichan ruling the NDP repeatedly promised. “For four months, the Premier said the stay was being sought, the Attorney General claimed the application was underway, and the government told British Columbians that action was coming. The court record shows they did nothing,” said Rustad. “Not one stay, not one application, not one motion. They made promises to homeowners while the registry sat empty.” Premier Eby first promised on August 11, 2025, that a stay would be filed, then again in October, and twice in Question Period when pressured by the opposition. A review of court documents on Friday revealed that no stay has been filed. Rustad said the stay was the single legal measure that could pause the ruling and protect homeowners in Richmond and across the province while appeals move forward. By...
