FELDSTED: We are past weary of politicians telling us how progressive they are, caring and compassionate and all that rot

Francois Legault To Jason Kenney: Nice French, But We Don’t Want An Oil Pipeline.  "There is no social acceptability for a new oil pipeline in Quebec."
Canadian Press ~~ HuffPost ~~ 04/17/2019

QUEBEC — Premier Francois Legault is congratulating Jason Kenney on his electoral victory in Alberta while reminding the incoming premier that Quebec's position on oil pipelines hasn't changed.

Legault said all parties in Quebec's legislature oppose any new oil pipelines.

Quebec Premier Francois Legault
"What I am saying is there is no social acceptability for a new oil pipeline in
Quebec," he said Wednesday, a day after Kenney's United Conservatives won a decisive majority of seats in the Alberta legislature.

Like every other provincial premier, Legault is so socially conscious his province is dead broke and exists on massive equalization subsidies from taxpayers outside of Quebec.

We don’t give a damn what nonsense he has to spout today or on any other day.  Most of us, inside and outside Quebec are tired of posturing political popinjays pretending that they know what we want and what is best for us. They don’t have a clue and don’t care about us.

We need affordable, quality education for our children and youth. We get increased taxation to cover systems with a dismal record and secondary education that leaves graduates with huge debts. How will you fix that?

We need employment opportunities. Increasing minimum wage rates do not create new jobs. Is it hard to understand that no wage rate is enough for a job we can’t apply for because it doesn’t exist?

We need affordable housing, not subsidized housing. Housing costs keep rising because owner equity is all the retirement savings many people have. The higher costs go, the fewer people can qualify for a mortgage. The housing market is eating itself tail first and politicians are spectators.

We need larger personal income tax exemptions and lower tax rates. You don’t help the working poor by taxing their meager incomes. They have little incentive to work harder or longer only to climb into an even higher tax bracket.

We are sick and tired of ever increasing and expanding fees.

Politicians crow about holding the line on taxes but invent new fees and increase existing fees that we have to pay out of what is left after income tax, CPP and EI are deducted. Our actual tax rates are far higher than our governments will admit to. We are taxed so the government can provide us with needed services. Why are we paying twice for the same services?

We are past weary of politicians telling us how progressive they are, caring and compassionate and all that rot. What we see is progressive governments spending money we don’t have and deficits and debt they cannot control. They can’t go bankrupt, but they are bankrupting us and future generations.

Governments are handing out our money to large corporations and union to ‘save jobs’! Millions of us are employed by non-union small business, and we deeply resent subsidizing giants who mismanage their affairs and deserve to go bankrupt. Get a grip and fix this stupidity.

We pay the highest cable, cell phone and internet service fees in the world and our government claim they cannot do anything about it. How about breaking up the cartels that own the infrastructure and are fixing the prices?

The cost of living is steadily increasing, and incomes are not keeping pace. The gap between cost of living and after-tax income is increasing even more rapidly. Is it going to take a rebellion to wake politicians up?

Politicians claim they have a duty to combat climate change. Really?

Where is that in our constitution? Politicians have no idea what the causes of climate change are. They are claiming to combat the forces of nature and solar effects on our planet. It is a grand distraction to prevent our becoming aware of just how incompetent and useless they are.

When all the dust settles, our parliament and legislatures are run by irresponsible packs of misfits suffering from arrested social development; and that is the kind description.

BC’s Forestry Decline Is a Policy Failure, Not a Market Reality -- Forestry Critic Calls for Accountability and Urgent Policy Reset

Conservative Party of BC Forestry Critic, and Kamloops - North Thompson MLA,  Ward Stamer As the Truck Loggers Association convention begins today, BC Conservative Forestry Critic Ward Stamer says British Columbia’s forestry crisis is the result of government mismanagement, not market forces, and that an urgent policy reset is needed to restore certainty, sustainability, and accountability. “For generations, forestry supported families and communities across BC,” said Stamer.  “Today, mills are closing, contractors are parking equipment, and families are being forced to leave home, not because the resource is gone, but because policy has failed.” Government data shows timber shipment values dropped by more than half a billion dollars in the past year, with harvest levels falling by roughly 50 per cent in just four years. At the same time, prolonged permitting timelines, unreliable fibre access, outdated forest inventories, and rising costs have made long-term planning impossib...

BC cannot regulate, redesign, and reinterpret its way to a stable forestry sector. Communities need clear rules, predictable timelines, and accountability for results.

Photo credit:  Atli Resources LP   BC’s Forestry Crisis Continues with Closure of Beaver Cove Chip Facility   As industry leaders, Indigenous partners, and contractors gather this week at the BC Natural Resources Forum in Prince George, the gap between government rhetoric and reality could not be clearer. Just hours after the Eby government once again touted reconciliation, certainty, and economic opportunity under DRIPA, Atli Chip Ltd, a company wholly owned by the ’Na̱mg̱is First Nation, announced it is managing the orderly closure of its Beaver Cove chip facility. The closure comes despite public tax dollars, repeated government announcements, and assurances that new policy frameworks would stabilize forestry employment and create long-term opportunity in rural and coastal British Columbia. “British Columbians are being told one story, while communities are living another,” said Ward Stamer, Critic for Forests. “This closure makes it clear that announcement...

Stamer: Hope for Forestry Completely Shattered After Another Provincial Review Driven by DRIPA

IMAGE CREDIT:  Provincial Forestry Advisory Council Conservative Critic for Forests Ward Stamer says the final report from the Provincial Forestry Advisory Council confirms the worst fears of forestry workers and communities; instead of addressing the real issues driving mill closures and job losses, the NDP has produced a report that ignores industry realities and doubles down on governance restructuring. Despite years of warnings from forestry workers, contractors, and industry organizations about permitting delays, regulatory costs, fibre access, and the failure of BC Timber Sales, the PFAC report offers no urgency, no timelines, and no concrete action to stop the ongoing decline of the sector. “ This report completely shatters any remaining hope that the government is serious about saving forestry ,” said Stamer.  “ We didn’t need another study to tell us what industry has been saying for years. While mills close and workers lose their livelihoods, the NDP is focused on re...
