“I am a Canadian, free to speak without fear, free to worship in my own way, free to stand for what I think right, free to oppose what I believe wrong, or free to choose those who shall govern my country. This heritage of freedom I pledge to uphold for myself and all mankind.” ~~ John G. Diefenbaker

DAY SEVEN ... a look back at the week of March 24th to 30th

My apologies folks, however I got busy last Sunday and missed putting up the list of Top Ten most read articles and stories of the week.  So ... without any further ado ... let’s get things underway and take a look at things for this past week starting with the first of three posts from John Feldsted:

#10 ... FELDSTED: Canada cannot be allowed to be held hostage by a minority of foreign subsidized, self-styled environmentalists determined to destroy the Canadian economy

#9 ... FRANK LEONARD: I never asked Larry if he indeed did remember Ken because it doesn’t matter. Larry had given a priceless gift to Ken and his family and that was all that mattered.

#8 ... FELDSTED: The stench of unethical actions will hang in the caucus room like the odor of a barrel of rotting fish

#7 ... ADAM OLSEN: Just imagine a scenario where it was being proposed that the gravesite of one of your ancestors, one of your grandparents' gravesite, was going to have a house built on it

#6 ... FELDSTED: The back-room dealings, controversy, rumours scandal, and secrecy are an object lesson in why governments should not be involved with or support business enterprises of any kind

#5 ... ADAM OLSEN: My colleagues in the BC NDP have seemingly bought the hype hyperbole, and propaganda, they once so bitterly denounced

#4 ... SUITS AND BOOTS: The Senate indeed has the power to kill C69 … we are calling on them to again exercise their power of sober second thought

#3 ... FORSETH: Manitoba now joining Alberta and Saskatchewan requiring mandatory commercial truck driver training. Meantime here in BC ICBC says it will help you pass your tests

#2 ... DAN ALBAS: Examples that point towards increased household debt ... in order to access the benefits of the programs ... that themselves are being offered by a $19.8 billion deficit budget

And last but not least .... here is the most read op / ed piece of the week:

#1 ... FORSETH: Jody Wilson-Raybould, “... this is about the integrity of the government ... this is going to look like nothing but political interference ...”

Again ... thank you for being a part of the journey on the blog site ... and thank you for taking the time to read the divergent thoughts and opinions presented by the writers taking time to write and share their thoughts.

FORSETH: Without a strong local presence, there is NO reason for anyone to tune in to local(?) radio

LOCAL HOMETOWN RADIO IS DYING … and without serious measures put in place, it will likely never see the light of day again. For well over four decades, the Canadian Radio and Television Commission (CRTC) has presided over its’ demise, and for that I say, “Shame”. Without out a word to say enough was enough, the CRTC has allowed corporate Canada to buy up one radio station after the other, and then allowed them to slash staff to the point where some so-called local radio stations do nothing more than air programming that originates from communities well outside the region in which they are located. Case in point?   On CHNL* 610 in Kamloops, the morning show hosted by Vinnie and Randi, DOES NOT originate from Kamloops -- it doesn’t even originate here in BC. It’s a program that Stingray airs across multiple radio stations in Western Canada. It doesn’t end there. Not only are Vinnie and Rando doing mornings on CHNL, but they also show up on sister station Country 103 … and of course o...

Conservative Economic Team Responds to Urgent Industry Concerns

" For far too long, the BC NDP has ignored the economic challenges facing British Columbians. Manufacturing jobs are vanishing, forestry is in decline, and private sector employment growth has stagnated. Meanwhile, affordability has worsened for both families and businesses. British Columbians deserve better, and we’re here to deliver real solutions to rebuild our economy and create jobs that support everyday working people and their families ." – Gavin Dew, MLA and Shadow Minister for Jobs, Economy, Development, and Innovation.   December 3, 2024, Vancouver, BC – The Conservative economic team met today with business leaders and stakeholders to tackle critical issues impacting British Columbia’s economy. Attended by 9 critics from the Conservative Caucus, this meeting was convened by MLA Gavin Dew – Shadow Minister for Jobs, Economic Development, and Innovation - as a direct response to an October 30th open letter from seven of the province’s largest industry associations. ...

PG Citizen: Rustad says BC Conservatives will release an election report in January

BC’s new opposition leader is planning to release a report into the 2024 provincial election early in the new year ... party leader John Rustad said he’s received lots of questions about why the party didn’t question the results. “I did that intentionally for two reasons,” Rustad said. “First of all, I wanted to make sure that I support democracy and the democratic process, but I also wanted to give us time to do some research and to look into the issues and bring things forward at the appropriate time. “I’m looking forward to January because we’re actually going to be bringing forward a report on what we have found from the election ..."
